Our lives are dictated by patterns, and when we live from patterns we live from the past where they are created and then reinforced, re-creating history over, and over again. How is it possible to get a different outcome? The pattern is a ‘stack’ of layers laid down over time starting with family of origin and overlayed with education, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, political landscape etc, etc.
Is it any wonder that embarking on change can feel overwhelming and giving up isn’t unusual.
The good news is the patterns you live by are created, in the early years by others but the continuation with or without awareness is with our consent. What does that mean? It means if we created or continued one habit, we can create another. That’s both terrifying and exciting, my life in my hands, or more accurately in my thoughts and feelings.
The first and most important principle of personal growth is self-awareness. A life of continued expansion and creation requires a decision to walk a particular path.
Expansion is a way of being, requiring focus.
I can hear a collective sigh – focus feels like hard work. I don’t believe that life should be hard, of course it has its challenges which are easier to manage if we put some simple practices in place, practices that require focus.
Putting anything new into practice takes some effort, some intention and more importantly the desire for something different. Focus can be ‘patchy’ to begin with but if the desire is strong enough, we’ll keep doing it. Our level of desire is a strong indicator of whether we’re prepared to embrace a bit of discomfort. Something new is always slightly uncomfortable. Then it’s just about simple repetition, just doing those things over, and over again to change our thoughts, feelings and most importantly our vibrational signal, and the laws of the universe say it must become:
“That which is likened unto itself is drawn”.
For me expansion is simply my way of life. I don’t see it as a list of habits or behaviours that I want to change (although that’s the outcome) it’s just an on-going lifelong unfolding.
Always becoming, always blossoming, always more……
Love and light,
Judith.
